A young man went out one evening to trim the wick of a lantern in the milkhouse. The lantern had grown dim, and he thought perhaps the flame had died.
But when he lifted the glass, he saw that the flame was small — yes — but still burning. It had been burning the whole time.
So it is with the soul that thinks God has gone silent. Lift the glass. He is still there. He never left.
